Outdoor Advertising Permit

The permit authorises the erection and operation of billboards, signage and other outdoor advertising structures within the municipality. Applicants must satisfy regulatory, structural and site-planning requirements before a permit is issued and monitored.

Overview

Applicants must purchase the relevant application forms from the Physical Planning Department, submit completed documentation, and satisfy site, structural and compliance checks before a permit is granted.

Basic Requirements

  • Receipt of payment for application form
  • Company certificate of incorporation or commencement of business
  • Business Operating Permit (BOP) if within the municipality; or evidence of permit in other jurisdiction if outside
  • List of proposed advertising locations and Google-Map montage plus GPS coordinates
  • Architectural & structural drawings of proposed billboards/signage endorsed by a certified architect or engineer
  • Insurance cover evidence
  • Written consent from property owner if on private property
  • Geotechnical studies/investigation

Application Process

Step 1: Submission

Submit completed application with payment, required attachments; applicant informed of required corrections (if any) and date for site inspection.

Step 2: Processing

The Technical Sub-Committee inspects, assesses and makes recommendations within 10 working days; final decision communicated within a month.

Step 3: Collection

Upon approval, pay the permit fee and annual renewal fee (as determined by the municipal Fee-Fixing Resolution).

Installation & Monitoring

Approved billboards/signage must be mounted under monitoring by the Physical Planning, Municipal Works, Urban Roads and Planning Coordinating Unit offices. Structures of 50 m² and above require supervision by certified consultants; failure to submit monitoring forms may lead to permit revocation.

Fee Information

All application, approval and annual renewal fees are determined by the Assembly’s Fee-Fixing Resolution. These must be paid in full before permit issuance or renewal.
