Major Educational and Youth Empowerment Intervention Launched in Asokore Mampong Municipality

 On Thursday, the Asokore Mampong Municipality stood as a shining example of purposeful leadership and people-centered governance in action.

The Municipal Chief Executive had the distinct honour of joining the Member of Parliament for Asawase and Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, to deliver a landmark intervention aimed at transforming education and empowering the youth through sustainable skills development.

In a bold demonstration of commitment to human capital development, a total of 3,500 mono desks were presented to basic schools across the Municipality—an important milestone toward improving teaching and learning conditions and enhancing the academic environment for pupils.

Additionally, 137 young people benefitted from a comprehensive skills empowerment package designed to equip them for productive livelihoods. The items distributed included 105 industrial sewing machines, 30 hairdryers, and professional makeup lighting equipment to support training in vocational trades.

The beneficiaries are enrolled in structured apprenticeship programmes in areas such as fashion design, hairdressing, carpentry, fabrication, and electrical installation. This initiative goes beyond the mere provision of equipment; it is structured to ensure sustainability and long-term impact. Upon successful completion of examinations supervised by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), beneficiaries will receive startup tools to facilitate a smooth transition into self-employment and entrepreneurship.

This intervention represents far more than the distribution of logistics—it is a strategic investment in the future of the youth of Asokore Mampong. It reflects a deliberate effort to reduce unemployment, promote self-reliance, and stimulate inclusive local economic growth.

The programme further demonstrates the strength of collaboration between the Office of the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Assembly, reaffirming that when leadership works collectively with a shared vision, meaningful and lasting development is achieved.
